A Nautical Theme...

10th April 2011

Progress on the new website continues...  Creating the new website has given me the opportunity to make changes... to take time to re-photograph the dolls... update sections that I had been intending to add to or change for such a long time...

A Nautical Theme...

My nautical collection of outfits from the Trendon and Gotz eras...  I have always thought that it was a shame that there isn't an outfit for Gregor to wear...

Sometimes when I am displaying this collection at home I put Sandy Hikers outfit with it (but without his sleeping bag and ruck sack) as I think it works quite well within this theme.  I have two of the Sandy Hiker shirts one with a pocket and one without.  I like the shirt without the pocket when he is wearing his rucksack.  I like the shirt with the pocket with this grouping...

The outfits from left to right...
Pintucks wearing Trendon "Marina" outfit, Gotz Claudius wearing his own sailor outfit, Miriam wearing Trendon "Sailing Suit" outfit, Sandy Hiker wearing his own Trendon outfit, early Baby Boy wearing Gotz baby "Lena" outfit, and finally, Lily wearing Gotz "Marina" outfit...

I think it is so interesting the different ways in which the nautical theme can be interpreted.

My Sasha Collection is being completely reworked...

I have been collecting the original pieces of Sasha clothing for a very long time.  When I first started buying Sasha dolls I often bought nude dolls or waifs on ebay as I couldn't afford the MIB dolls...  so after investigation I would start to watch out for the outfit that they would have worn on ebay or for sale on other websites like Shelly's...

I decided that I would like to combine my original outfits collection with the photographing of my Sasha, Gregor, toddler and baby collections...  So I have been photographing a few of the dolls each morning... I have been enjoying the process and thinking about the outfits that I am still looking for...

A couple of my outfits have a reproduction element as the doll arrived with part of its original outfit missing...  I decided it would be fun to photograph some of the dolls wearing their original outfit but others are wearing a different outfit to the one they would have arrived in...  Partly because the clothing collection is larger than the doll collection and partly because I always thought a few of the outfits were cuter on a different doll...

Autumn Landscape Collection: Part 2

The models used in this group are:

Amelia (a one of a kind Wenarsky repaint); Poppy (a Frido dungarees girl from 1968); John (early baby boy); Rowena (a limited edition trendon Kiltie).
I had great pleasure collecting the materials and wools for this collection. The colours were wonderful to work with.

Amelia is wearing a cute outfit hand knitted using two different sock wools. I loved the combination of the smudgy looking sock wools with the tie dyed rusty toned needlecord.
She is wearing socks knitted using lace weight shetland wool and beautiful brown leather boneka shoes.

I loved the control of the striped pattern contrasting with the random patterning on her trousers.

Amelia is a beautiful one of a kind girl created by Kelly Wenarsky. She has beautiful hazel eyes with hints of green.

Poppy is wearing a beautiful traditional style dress in a pretty cotton fabric. It has an upright collar and fine cuffs.

The slip and pantalettes are a beautiful contrasting colour picking up the main colour in the dress perfectly.

She is wearing ivory socks hand knit using lace weight shetland wool and beautiful cream leather old style laced boneka boots.

I love the early girls wearing their hair in plaits. It always looks so cute.

John my handsome early baby Gregor is wearing one of my new designs for this collection.

I used two wools in this outfit. The same patterned rusty coloured sock wool used in the outfit below and a lovely warm toned cream wool. They were used to great effect to knit the striped hat and footed trousers.

He has a beautiful cuddly Steiff polar bear which coordinates perfectly with his outfit.

John has the most amazing dark brown eyes.

His aran sweater features cabling on the front and sleeves. It fastens with 3 buttons on the back.

The outfit is finished with a lovely little ribbed scarf.

This outfit is just too cute for words.

This coat pattern has been a work in progress for a while. I really like how it has turned out and it is very cute made in the space dyed sock wool.

I wanted the fairisle top underneath to be fine and light and to pick up the colours in the coat without being the same. The blue worked as a good contrast. The oatmeal background makes the top look summery. I used lace weight shetland wool for this top.

In the end, I teamed this outfit with bootleg style denim trousers, as I loved how it brought out the blue pattern in the fairisle top.

Her socks are oatmeal coloured lace weight shetland wool and she wears boneka brown leather sandals.

Rowena, my beautiful LE Kiltie, suits these colours perfectly.

She has the loveliest light auburn hair and clear blue/grey eyes.

Autumn Landscape Collection: Part 3

The models in this group are:
Anna (Gotz Anna side-part with bobbed hairstyle) Sally (Early trendon baby girl)Raven haired trendon Sasha Emillie (One of a Kind Sasha Repaint)

When I saw this beautiful silk scarf, I just knew that it would be a perfect sari for Sasha.

It has a pretty paisley pattern with a lovely dark contrasting border. I have hand stitched the pleats to help keep them in place.

I used a lovely oatmeal coloured natural cotton for the little top and the long length slip.

She is also wearing fine beads one as a necklace and the other two (the same length as the first) twisted around her wrists as bracelets.

Although my raven haired trendon beauty succeeded in modelling this outfit, it also looked gorgeous on Arielle my Gotz Yamka.

I created this pretty outfit for the Lilac Collection. I loved it so much I thought I would try it in the lovely Autumn colours.

Her cardigan is hand knit using a pretty peach lace weight shetland wool. Yet again the buttons were hard to find. I kept looking for the right size and colour everywhere I went.

Her blouse is made from a dainty rose floral patterned cotton fabric and fastens at the back.

Her socks are hand knit using the same wool as her cardigan. The outfit is completed with a lovely pair of brown leather boneka sandals.
Emillie is another of Kelly Wenarsky's beautiful one-of-a-kind Sasha dolls. She has deep blue eyes and wears an auburn human hair wig which I have plaited. It is tied with a hair tie knitted using the shetland lace wool.
Here we have another of my new baby Sasha creations.

I just adore my little early brunette Sasha baby girl. Her eyes are gradually turning a gorgeous shade of green and she has a cute very long fringe which she peeps out from below.

Sally is wearing a lovely striped baby grow which fastens at the front with black snap fasteners. It is knit using a lovely Panda silk sock wool and a lovely dark brown tweed sock wool which has the same colour flecks running through it as are in the Panda wool.

She is hugging her beautiful little toy dog.
For a long time I have intended to find the time to create a pattern for a baby hat with ear flaps. It really is too cute on her. It was knitted mainly using the panda silk sock wool and edged using the tweed wool. I also added a little dark brown pompom. It ties under her chin with little I-cord ties.
This is the first outing for Anna, my lovely Gotz side-part girl, as a model.

The dress she is wearing was made using the same beautiful dainty rose floral patterned cotton as the blouse above. It has a full gathered skirt which is just below the knee in length. The bodice is fitted and lined and the dress has long sleeves.

Her socks are hand knit using ivory lace weight shetland wool with a single peach stripe. Her shoes are leather boneka t-bar shoes.

The contrast fabric has a darker peach pattern on a lighter peach background and has been used for her peter pan collar, fine cuffs and belt. The belt has a little decorative rose shaped buckle at the front, picking up the rose pattern on the dress fabric.

Anna is a beautiful Sasha who has gorgeous shoulder length brown hair with blue eyes. She is sister to my lovely Gotz Annette and toddler Elke who both have the same colouring.
